hitchBOT Travels the United States

Co-created by McMaster Communication Studies & Multimedia professor David Harris Smith and Frauke Zeller from Ryerson University, hitchBOT is a interactive hitchhiking robot that is aiming to hitchhike its way across the United States.

hitchBOT traveled from Nova Scotia to British Columbia last summer and then traveled Germany and the Netherlands in the spring of 2015. The bot relies on complete strangers to pick it up and move it from location to location.

On July 17, hitchBOT will start its travels at the Peabody Museum of in Salem, Massachusetts and aims to cross the United States to the Exploratorium in San Francisco at the end of its journey.

Watch the launch video filmed by the creators and follow hitchBOT travels on the website, or on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
