In the news: English Ph.D. Student weighs in on Cecil the lion

English and Cultural Studies PhD student Danielle Martak has published an opinion article on TheSpec.com about the killing of Cecil the lion by American hunter Walter Palmer.

“Much of the outcry is unforgiving and punitive: there are calls for Palmer to be extradited to Zimbabwe to be tried, to have his citizenship revoked, and even, in some cases, to be killed. As the world awaits a legal judgment on the matter, the public is working to quickly devastate Palmer’s life by demonizing him online.”
