Harry Lyman Hooker series to discuss Democracy and LiberalismOber-Hooker-Poster

On March 17 we welcome Dr. Josiah Ober to McMaster campus for the Harry Lyman Hooker lecture titled “Democracy Before Liberalism.”

Dr. Ober is the Constantine Mitsotakis Professor of Political Science and Classics at Stanford University. His work focuses on democracy, historical institutionalism, and political theory. One of the most influential ancient historians writing today, he has been called “the George Grote of our times”, bringing the perspective of antiquity to bear on questions of modern political thought and practice.

Dr. Ober’s public lecture will take place on March 17th at 1:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the University Club. The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion at 3:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend!
