Modern technology helps piece together a 2,600-year old city

Dr. Spencer Pope of the Department of Classics is leading a research project in Metaponto, Italy to piece together the history and artifacts of the ancient Greek settlement of Metaponto. Pope and his team are using a diverse array of modern technologies including GPS, drone and photogrammetry technology.

The data the team are collecting can be used by an variety of different disciplines to help better understand the day to day life of the inhabitants of this ancient settlement.
