Course Format

The following is an overview of the format of the course. More will follow as discussed in lectures.

1. There will be two one hour lectures/demonstrations each week held in TSH B128.
2. Hands-on tutorials will be organized for relevant computing skills and discussion. Every student is expected to sign up for one tutorial. Assignments and small group worksheets will be handed in to the Teaching Assistants during tutorials. More
3. Students will be expected to form into small groups for self-directed participation activities guided by worksheets. More
4. Readings, course materials, worksheets and assignments will be available on the Internet and students will be expected to use these materials. Students will be expected to check their e-mail at least once a week for announcements.

Tutorials

There will be 4 TAs who will run 8 Tutorials for up to 25 students each. Students should sign up for tutorials when the sign up sheets are posted. Your assignments will be handed in and returned in Tutorials. More information to follow. More

Office Hours

The instructor, Geoffrey Rockwell has office hours from 2:00 to 3:00pm on Thursdays. You can also talk to me after class or e-mail me at grockwel [at] mcmaster.ca.

There are four tutorial leaders for this course and eight tutorials. The tutorials are organized to be spread across the week. All students should sign up for a tutorial! All tutorials are in TSH 206. Students should make sure they send an e-mail introductory note to their tutorial leader with their name and student number.

Small Group Worksheets

You will be formed into Small Groups that should meet for an hour a week. In your groups you will be asked to complete a worksheet and hand it in the following week at the tutorial.
