Rondo III is the only rondo that closely relates to a typical rondo form as described by music theorists as represented in this pictural chart, based on a detailed analysis of the rondo. The textual descriptions can be found in Episodes in Rondo III: Unique But Not Distinct and in Chart I - Rondos I, III and V, Opus 3 by Jane Savage: Similarities and Differences. You can compare this pictorial chart to a representation of a typical rondo as found in Chart II - Rondos and Their Conventional Form. The numbers indicate actual measures. Please note that I chose darker shades of yellow to indicate the cadential regions, and repeated the lighter shades to show the antecedent and consequent phrases. It is interesting to see where and when these motives are repeated in the following episodes and coda.

I used different colours to show how the episodes and the coda are supposed to be different from the rondo theme. I also used darker shades of bright blue, dark blue and pink in the episodes to represent particular repeating motives and cadential motives that may also be repeated and transformed in the following episodes and in the coda. The most interesting development is found in the third episode (D) with the development of melodic motives supported by variations of harmonic patterns from the first episode (B) A cadenza concludes this episode in m. 55.
