Engendering the Stage goes behind scenes with Stratford Festival
The Engendering the Stage project, co-lead by four researchers including McMaster Faculty of Humanities researchers Dr. Peter Cockett and Dr. Melinda Gough, is celebrating one year. To mark the occasion, they have released a special 5-minute behind the scenes video that the research project has done with the Stratford Festival.
The project examines the history of gendered performance in theatre. Playing with gender in the casting of roles may seem like a modern practice but the history stretches back to early modern theatre performances across Europe. Check out the video below or visit the Engendering the Stage website for more information.
