As part of the Wilson Institute for Canadian History’s involvement in Canada’s 150th anniversary, this year’s Visiting Speaker Series is devoted entirely to Confederation. Our first speaker will be Dr. Matthew Hayday, University of Guelph, who will present a paper titled “Constructing Canadian Identities: How Dominion Day and Canada Day Celebrations Have Shaped our Country.” Dr. Hayday will discuss the politics of Canada Day, and show how these celebrations have played an active role in constructing Canada’s national identity over the past century and a half.

All interested in attending should register here.
