Professor Connolly accepts graduate students through four different programs: Cognitive Science of Language, Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour, McMaster Integrative Neuroscience Discovery & Study (MiNDS), and McMaster School of Biomedical Engineering.
Position: Master’s student
Start date: July 1, 2016
Dr. Stefanie Blain-Moraes (McGill University) and Dr. John Connolly (McMaster University) invite applications for a position as a Master’s student in the areas of cognitive neuroscience and signal processing. The project involves applying novel algorithms for the analysis of electroencephalographic (EEG) data collected during cognitive tests of individuals with disabilities and individuals undergoing anesthesia. We are testing these algorithms to determine whether or not they can distinguish levels of consciousness and the cognitive abilities of unresponsive individuals.
Requirements: We are looking for applicants with a background in signal processing and experience using MATLAB. Individuals with an engineering degree are strongly preferred and applicants must be committed to working in a multidisciplinary research team that includes psychologists, neuroscientists and physicians.
Application procedure: Applicants should send a cover letter, C.V. and names and transcripts in a single pdf file to firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com
