Mahila Shanti Sena (Women's Peace Corp)

In February 2001, under the co-sponsorship of the Centre for Peace Studies, McMaster University and Shrambharati (Patna), an International Conference on Peace, Non-Violence and Democracy was held at Vaishali, the legendary ancient city of Bihar.  At that conference a new peace training program for women called "Women's Shanti Sena (WSS)" was initiated by Acharya Ramamurti. 

The training  involves  5-7 days of intensive training in the general area of  peace, Non-violence and democracy with a view to increase  women's awareness of their rights and responsibilities for developing a successful Panchayatraj .  So far the program  has trained over 3,000 women in Bihar alone.  The  WSS training camps have spread into eight States of India including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat , Assam and others.
